When will my Master Lock and American Lock padlocks be delivered?
Master Lock Company manufactures both Master Lock and American Lock brand products. Lead time depends upon the type of padlock you purchase. Refer to the chart below for lead time estimates. Definitions of the various terms can be found below. Lead times are estimates. We cannot guarantee delivery by a specific date. Call us prior to placing your order if you have a required delivery date.

How can I reduce the lead time of my order?
There are four ways to reduce the lead time of your order:
- Choose padlocks that we stock in our warehouse. Refer to the lead time chart above.
- Choose the Express Program option for safety lockout padlocks. This will reduce the lead time by 7 to 14 days. Padlock models that can be ordered through the Express Program are identified by the following image:
- Choose next day delivery. This will reduce the lead time up to 5 days. Contact us for pricing.
- Choose an equivalent padlock from another manufacturer. Contact us for alternative models.
Definitions
Average Lead Time: The average number of business days for delivery from the date an order is placed. Business days include Monday through Friday excluding holidays. Lead time includes the time required to manufacture and/or package an order plus the number of days in transit to the destination. Current lead times are estimates. We cannot guarantee delivery by a specific date. Call us prior to placing your order if you have a required delivery date.
Key Code: The key code is stamped on an original key. It identifies the unique cuts on the key that make the key operate a particular padlock.
Padlocks Keyed Differently: All padlocks have their own unique key code. Only the unique key will open the padlock.
Padlocks Keyed Alike - stock key code: These padlocks have the same key code. Padlocks and keys are identical. We select the key code and ship from our warehouse stock. Choose this option for a new order of keyed alike padlocks or for a repeat order of stock padlocks. Keyed alike is not master keyed (see Master Keyed Padlocks).
Padlocks Keyed Alike - factory assigned: These padlocks have the same key code. Padlocks and keys are identical. The manufacturer builds these padlocks to a randomly selected key code and ships from the Master Lock warehouse. Choose this option for a new order of keyed alike padlocks. Keyed alike is not master keyed (see Master Keyed Padlocks).
Padlocks Keyed Alike - my key code: These padlocks have the same key code. Padlocks and keys are identical. The manufacturer builds these padlocks to the key code selected by the customer and ships them from the Master Lock factory. Choose this option if you already own padlocks with a particular key code. The key code is stamped on the original key(s). Keyed alike is not master keyed (see Master Keyed Padlocks).
Master Keyed Padlocks: All padlocks have their own unique key. A special key called a master key is purchased separately. The master key will open all of the individual padlocks in that master key system.
Express Program: The Express Program is an expedited production option offered by Master Lock and American Lock for safety lockout padlocks and devices. Express Program orders ship in 48 hours. Orders must be received by 12PM EST to ship the second business day. There is a 15% charge for padlocks and no additional charge for safety lockout devices ordered through the Express Program. Below is a complete list of padlocks that are available for purchase through the Express Program.
Express Program Product Availability and Limitations
- Padlocks are available keyed differently (KD), keyed alike (KA), and master keyed (MK).
- Custom key codes are available.
- All padlock colors are available.
- Padlock key codes are not registered. The customer can register key codes with Master Lock after they have been received.
- Laser engraving, stamping, and key charting are not available.
- Orders must be received by 12PM EST to ship the second business day.
- The 15% Express Program fee is waived for safety lockout devices when ordered with Express Program padlocks.
